Father's Day Fun

Although it can't compete with mother's day, I think Brandon has had a pretty good day. He got to stay in bed until almost 8, and then was served a king's breakfast in bed which consisted of eggs, bacon, hash browns, and pancakes (which would explain why we were 30 min late for church). Brianna and Hallie picked dad a flower (weed) and he was surprised but pleased with his gift of a tomato plant. For some reason it has been something he has wanted for a while. Anyways, he is finishing his day off taking a long nap right now, lucky dog. He deserves it for being by far the best dad and husband in the world. I love him so much and hope that I can be deserving of all his goodness one day.

Pierced

Note to self, if I ever have another daughter, pierce her ears at 4-6 months. I pierced Hal's ears today and it was a horrible experience for all involved. It consisted of about 45 minutes of screaming so hard that she couldn't catch her breath, and that was just to mark the dots with a pen. I took my mom and Brianna and both are traumatized. My mom cried quite possibly harder than Hallie and was walking around the store with her hands over her ears singing very loudly. Meanwhile I had my poor child on my lap in a headlock (no exaggeration). It was a very good mothering experience. The best part of the whole ordeal is when a cute little foreign lady approached me with broken English saying, "Ma'am, that child is much too young for that, is she even yours?" Since I was holding my own kid in a headlock I wish my answer could have been, "No, I just thought this random kid would look good in earrings." So anyways it is all over now and she looks so stinking cute, and has long forgotten the horrible things that occurred just 2 hours ago, so all is well. My goal with doing this is that if I take her out and forget a bow, people will now have no question that she is a girl, even though the pink clothes and bracelet never seems to tip them off.

Taking the plunge

I can't believe that she is already big enough to be walking. She walked for Nana first, but now is gaining courage to travel where she wants around the house. Sorry my cheers are so loud, but I was just so excited.

Why Dad's Don't Do Hair

I know he meant well, and that's what is important. He was trying for a nice neat part down the middle, but when you only have 3 inches of hair a parts not the best idea. Even he said it didn't turn out the way he hoped. The resemblance between Hallie and Dwight from The Office is uncanny if you ask me.

My Baby's 1!

It doesn't seem like it's possible that just a year ago my baby came into this world. We celebrated her birthday last weekend, and we all had fun. My parents came in for most of the week and stayed and I can't even begin to tell you what a help that is and how nice it is to have someone to talk to during the day. Hallie seemed to enjoy her first chocolate vegan cake and liked the first present she opened, but after that she couldn't shift her attention to the rest of the gifts. She is the biggest blessing in my life and I'm so grateful for her. When the party was over this weekend and we were eating dinner, she came around to where I was sitting on the floor and leaned over and kissed my shoulder. It was the sweetest gesture that was completely her idea, to say the least I teared up. Then later that night when I put her in her crib she blew me several kisses before she rolled over with her silky blanket. Things like that get me so excited to see what kind of a person she is going to grow into. To say the least, she is loved.

Narnia

This past weekend our girls, Mikayla and Brianna performed in a youth theater's performance of "Narnia." Mikayla had the lead role of Susan and Brianna played a beautiful tree spirit. They were both awesome and lit up the stage as soon as they were on, and I'm being truthful not prejudice. Mikayla had so many lines and solos, I can't believe that she remembered it all and did perfectly. Brianna did perfect too with her lines and solo. They both have such beautiful voices, which is surprising if you have ever heard their dad sing, ha just kidding. They must get their talent from me.
