Ho Ho Ho

We just did our annual visit with Santa Claus and the reaction from the girls was anything but disappointing. Hallie has been practicing for literally months what to tell Santa she wants for Christmas. So when the big moment came she sat on his lap and went more than blank, she went silly. She started talking like Harper (baba dada googoo gaga), Santa was laughing graciously, but I'm pretty sure everyone that was watching was assuming that she was not all there. Meanwhile I am kneeling beside her trying to coax her to relax and speak English, at the same time I'm getting fussed at by the camera guy who HAD to take the picture right then (even though there were no other kids waiting to see Santa). It's a good thing he did or otherwise I wouldn't have captured this Kodak moment.
Heaven forbid he give me a second to try to make my child smile. Next was Harpers turn and like most others her age, she screamed the second she got near him leading to yet another Kodak moment.

Last was Grandma's sweet dog Presly, who tried to jump off his lap immediately, which is surprising because she loves everyone. If nothing else this visit made for a good memory and I will cherish the pictures forever.

10 months

This picture was taken by my fabulous friend/photographer Denisha Sproul.  To see more of the whole family click here.

I can't believe that 10 months has flown by with my sweet Harper.  She is such a precious girl and so easy to take care of.  She loves to sleep with her doo doo, eat anything that's in front of her, and play with anything that Hallie has first.  I love this stage of life where she's beginning to understand language, respond, and be playful back.

Happy Halloween

This Halloween was a fun and busy one. I was lucky enough to borrow the girls costumes this year from one of my most stylish friends, and got to enjoy all the compliments guilt free knowing that I didn't pay a penny:) So thanks Denisha for dressing your kids in these adorable costumes years ago!

Confession time. . . Since Halloween was on a Sunday we had mixed thoughts about trick or treating, but in the end decided to just go down our street and stop at the few houses that would actually be handing out candy.  We literally took about 5 steps past our garage and looked right into the camera that was filming trick or treaters for our local news.  We laughed and joked about being on the news for a few minutes then forgot about it until we turned on the news at night and there our cute little family was walking down a sidewalk with our peacock leading the way.  Oh well, I guess our decisions good or bad don't have to be shouted from the rooftops when they are featured on the news:)
Just a little something to make you smile!!!

First Haircut

Sometimes I get in these moods where I feel like I need to accomplish things NOW. I've tried to get Hallie to sit still for a haricut before, but she seemed to feel the same about the hairstylist as she did doctors. . .not good. This morning I decided she had to get her haircut, and to my surprise she went determined too.

To the credit of the place we went, it was definitely kid friendly with a slide and balloons so she didn't feel scared. So as the lady was cutting her hair I got so excited that she was sitting still and not crying/screaming that I failed to give her very clear directions as to what I wanted. It wasn't until I got home that I realized her new haircut was reminiscent of this. . . .

After her nap, I tried to style it and at least got it looking like this; which is still pretty cute but the bangs are going to have to be pinned back until they grow ALOT. Basically we accomplished two things today, her first haircut and her first bad haircut. It doesn't matter, you could shave her head bald and she would still be gorgeous and I would still be the proudest mother in the world.

Proud Momma

Finally after many months of dread and anticipation after the last failure I can proudly say that this sweet girl is potty trained. She was much more ready this time, and I made the wise decision of not trying to do it alone so with Brandon's help it was accomplished in a couple of days. She's received lots of treats, stickers, and praise so she is very proud of herself as well.

Harper decided she was not going to be out shined, so she learned how to pull up the same day.  She is such a sweet baby but is hard to keep up with.
I am loving these girls!!!!
Tea Parties and Dress Up takes up more than a few hours in my week.  I've got a good life.
We went to the zoo last week and Haper spent most of the day peeking out of the stroller like this.

Alaska

Brandon and Korbin went to Alaska for a boys fishing trip with brothers, nephews, and cousins. They had a really great time and can't wait to go again (in ten years, which will be about the time I will be ok with him leaving me alone again for a whole week.)Brandon said it they were catching fish almost as fast as they could cast their line, or whatever your supposed to say. . .A highlight of the trip was taking a float plane to another fishing location for the day. I am so glad that I didn't know ahead of time that the tiny creek below was their landing strip. That day they cleaned a fish and ate it fresh for lunch. 90% of the tv that Brandon watches is survival shows, so I know he was in heaven.
One of his many big catches. Does this one look mean to anyone else?He really had a wonderful time and he definitely needed the break from work and babies. It's funny to me that I actually believed that I would handle his absence easily and would just be happy that he was having fun, ha. It was definitely good for our marraige because by the first night I was dying for my husband to be back home. I'm glad he had the opportunity to go, but I'm not giving him up again willingly anytime soon.

Talent Show

Last week Mikayla and Korbin competed in a local talent show and did amazing!! We were so proud even though I only got to hear it through the phone in the van since Harper was having a fit. Obviously they captured the audience's attention.I tried my hardest to get a video downloaded, but it didn't work. So please believe that they did awesome, we were very proud!!!

Growing Up

Harper is almost 6 mths old and is starting to become her own sweet person more every day. She loves sucking her thumb or toe. She has followed suit from her sister and likes to sleep with her doo-doo (silky blanket bear). She has a great laugh and is almost always in a good mood. If she is crying, you know that she is seriously upset about something. She sat up yesterday and it hit me that the newborn stage is pretty much over.

I had to post this too because obviously Harper is not the only one growing up. You got to love that Nana has taken it upon herself to teach her classical music.
