Sister Time

One of Hallie's favorite things to do lately is have pillow time with Harper. In this video she is laughing because we discovered she can't say peekaboo, it comes out keekapoo and she thinks it is hilarious.

ER

Yesterday was one of those rough days that we all have. Hallie was enjoying Nana's company as she always does on a snow day, when she jumped off the bed and landed on her head. I heard a scream and some crying as my mom brought her to me downstairs where I was nursing Harper. I expected to hear alot of crying and pleading for suckers, but instead she seemed eerily calm. I held her in my arms to check for a bump on her head and then she went limp and I watched her eyes roll back in her head. I knew she had a concussion and I knew that she need to get to the ER, but my brain would not help me figure out how to do that. There has to be a better word than craziness for what happened next. I was trying to pretend to be calm because my mother was panicking, but with my lifeless child on my shoulder my mind went blank. I couldn't find my keys, shoes, coat, anything. I asked mom to get my shoes and she brought me my boots, and literally forgot how to put my feet in them. Poor Harper only got half a feeding, but was probably just lucky that we even remembered to bring her with us to the hospital. Once we made it to the ER, everything felt a lot calmer. Hallie worried me because she let the nurses take her vitals without moving which has never happened in her life, but about half an hour later she had perked up and threw a tantrum when the doctor tried to look in her ears. That's when we knew she would be fine. Bad things seem to happen in pairs because I called Brandon at work so he could come be with us, and as he is trying to leave he realizes his battery is dead. In the end everything turned out fine, we just had to wake her a few times in the night. She seems herself today. I'm just disappointed because I always thought having girls would mean less injuries. So much for that theory.

Cabin Fever/Where's my Penny

So this should technically be two blogs, but I'm always afraid that when I do two at the same time only the top one gets read.
I hate winter!! We have been cooped up in the house for so long that we are finally braving the cold to venture out and have a little fun. Brandon is the awesome kind of dad who wants to make sure he has experiences with his kids that they can remember fondly later in life, so he suggested that we get a hotel room so they can swim and have a slumber party (except Harper and I would come home to sleep). I had my doubts about this because Hallie does not sleep well away from home, but the hotel was about a mile away from our house so I wasn't worried.Swimming went good, and even better when she discovered the hot tub, then it was time to say good night.I called to check on them at about 9:00 (2 hrs past bedtime), Brandon said she was doing great and having so much fun, and I could hear her laugh in the background. 10:00 comes and I get a call from Brandon saying, "I think I made a mistake giving her an oreo a while ago because she keeps running back and forth in the room saying 'Oh my gosh.'" I've never heard her say that before so it must be something she picked up at the hotel, boo.At 10:30, I get another call saying that the front desk just called saying that the people below complained that there was constant jumping coming from the room above. I told Brandon to tell everyone to get to bed and he replied that everyone had been in bed for an hour, but Hallie won't quit running back and forth. 11:15 rolls around and Brandon called to say he was bringing her home. Hallie and I rocked like normal for a few minutes and she told me everything that was in her head in a string of words like this, "water, wet, Brianna, Koko, Kayla, baby, Harper, frog, ribbit, ribbit, rock, sing, bed." At this point I laid her in her crib, and instant silence. I am pretty sure she was asleep before I could close the door. All this tells me is that she hates the cold too, and needs to get out more.

Part Two: Where's my penny?
It's no fun to swim if you can't go diving for small things using goggles, atleast when you are ten. So Brianna was diving for a penny at the moment when Dad asked her to get out and get him a towel. She was doing so when she heard "plink". Everyone went on a mad search for that stinking penny under the water and above for atleast 15 minutes, until Brandon looked up and started laughing hard at Brianna. He found her penny all right.Look in her right goggle lens

Crazy Life

There are so many things I would love to blog about, but so little time so here's some quick highlights. I'm skirting around potty training Hallie. So far the score is Carpet-1 Potty Chair-0

Harper's doing great. She's about 10 lbs now and last night she slept two 5 hr stretches, meaning I only had to nurse at 2 am. I never knew motherhood could be so wonderful considering that Hallie was 6 weeks old the first time she slept a full 3 hour stretch. So we are all doing alot better this time around. Life is good. You gotta love those cheeks.

Welcome to the World, Harper!!

Harper Ryanne Allen was born on January 8th weighing in at 8lbs. 1 oz. She was a big girl considering that she came one week early. So far, she is definitely a good eater and an okay sleeper. Labor was more intense this time, but much quicker. All in all, no complaints and we are thrilled to have her in the family.

Merry Christmas

My favorite gift from Hallie: a 2.5 hour nap on Christmas eve
My favorite gift from my sweet husband: letting me nap as well and having dinner in the oven when I woke up.
My favorite gift from unborn baby Harper: being dilated to a 2 already! So hopefully my pregnant days will be over soon.
Cost of all my favorite gifts: priceless
Merry Christmas!!

Baby Belly Woes

With exactly one month to go, I have definitely entered the stage of my pregnancy where passing comments are less and less flattering. I just thought I would share some of my favorites.

Best Buy Cashier: (loudly) Well, I was supposed to close this register, but we are having a medical emergency. (Brandon and I both look at him concerned) No, not me, I don't want you to have your baby here!
Best Buy Manager: She's not THAT huge. Honey when are you due?
Me: (stall, stall) uhh, January
Manager: January what?
Me: (stall, blush, fidget) umm January uhh
Brandon: 18th
Me: No! it's the 15th. (I could care less that he didn't know the exact date, but I just didn't want it to sound one day longer than it had too.)

Man at church: (to Brandon) Hey, is your wife ok?
Brandon: Yes, she's fine. why?
Man: Oh, well I saw you two leave class early and I thought it might be time.

Lady at Walmart: So how far past your due date are you? I went two weeks late.
(This didn't even deserve a response)

Family friend: Are you SURE there's only one in there?

Furniture Guy: Where should I take this nightstand?
Me: Upstairs to the left, I'll show you
Furniture Guy: No ma'am you are carrying enough weight, I can find it.

Trust me, I'm not offended because we all say things that sound worse coming out of our mouths than it did in our heads. After seeing my own picture. I'm questioning if I will really make it another month too.
